The Real Truth About Pandemic Parenting — It’s Okay to Cry

The Real Truth About Pandemic Parenting — It’s Okay to Cry

I don’t even know where to start.

Parenting during the pandemic… whew. It wasn’t just hard — it felt like surviving something no one prepared us for.

There were days I cried in the bathroom while holding a baby who wouldn’t sleep, wouldn’t stop crying, or just needed me when I had nothing left to give.

And the worst part? I didn’t even feel like I could talk about it.

Everyone was struggling in some way, and I didn’t want to seem ungrateful. But inside, I was drowning in diapers, worry, loneliness, and the pressure to still be “doing okay.”

So if you’ve cried — I mean really cried — during this journey, I want you to know you’re not crazy, you’re not weak, and you’re definitely not alone.

Parenting through lockdowns, missed milestones, and constantly shifting “rules” was emotional.

We didn’t get the playdates. The help. The grandparents. The normal we were supposed to have.

We got… survival mode.

And yet — look at us. We’re still here.

Raising these little pandemic babies who don’t know a world without masks or hand sanitizer.

Babies who learned to clap, crawl, or talk without a crowd around to cheer them on.

Babies who taught us how to adapt, how to keep going, and how to find joy in the little things.

So yeah, I cried.

And I probably will again.

But I also laughed. I also grew.

And if you’re reading this — so did you.

This space is for all of us figuring it out in real time. Crying one minute, dancing in the kitchen the next.

Come as you are. You’re safe here.
